do you find yourself unable to cry when you know you need to?

I was walking to the bus on my way to work Friday in a great mood, it was a beautiful day and I was smiling to myself....until I saw a little orange and white kitten cowering near a big gray cat in a fenced yard, and before I even realized it...tears were trickling down my face and my eyes are welling up with tears again...

Now the reason I posted that here is because I was told it was a Menopausal thing, but I'm wondering if any of you experience anything like that? Everything these days is blamed on Menopause if you're over forty or fifty...
How do you think you would react if you saw the same situation?
I did stop and tell the big cat to get lost, and she/he didn't attack the little one at least I didn't see it happen...it was seeing that little kitten helpless in the corner by the fence...
My head told me it's "Nature's Way" but my heart cried...
