Yes, especially if there is not a legal limitation for the kids to consider. You can argue indefinitely about moral limitations.

A decision that may be the right one for me, does not necessarily have to be the right decision for another person. Whatever decision I will be making in the future, I may not consider myself an abstract person. But I must consider myself as a person, with specific preferences, ideals, et cetera. If you consider yourself an abstract person, you would be doing what you ought to do; and we all know that it can lead to disastrous consequences.
