I used to drink alone at times. It helped me with writing. Writing is a very tiresome process, that lasts many hours a day. A drink makes you lose your mental inhibitions in the short term.
However, alcohol is actually a depressant. So if you are feeling numb, the last thing you need to do, is drinking.
If you are alone, you can also do a few other things. Try playing computer games, or reading books (literature) for instance. There must be something you like that you can do, instead.
Perhaps you have to overcome initial resistance, when you take up a new habit. But if you do something, persevere, and you will start to feel better.
