you're right. there is no law as to how many days a visitor can stay and not pay rent. With roomates though, it's all about respecting eachother. Did you talk to them about this prior to having your boyfriend over? If you didn't, this could be the reason why they're so upset. When you have a roomate, things have to be agreed upon so that everyone living in the apartment or the house is comfortable.
The same thing goes with a marriage. I cna't have a friend stay here without talking to my husband about it first. I wouldn't want him to do that without talking to me first either. We both need to be prepared that our privacy will be interupted for a period of time.
Having roomates isn't easy. You have to realize that you have several different people living under the same roof. Everyone has their own quarks, routines, favorite shows, favorite meals, etc...
I would sit down and talk to them about this. see what it is that they're upset about and take it from there. Break the ice so to speak.
