Another thing I should mention is that if you do decide to look elsewhere and get a new place come renewal time, then make sure you have your name removed from the lease/renewal. If you failt to do this and they end up destroying anything in the apartment, you will be held accountable along with the toher ones who are named on the lease. Always make sure that your butt is covered legally.

I'm with you merika. I had roomates when I was in my early 20's and I hated it. What I hated the most was the lack of respect of privacy. The roomate that I did have and ended up kicking out, she used to go into my room (and the door was locked!) and steal things from me when I wasn't home. I ended up having to lock everything in my room, food included and it still didn't stop her from doing that. It got to the point where I couldn't live like that anymore so I kicked her out.

I couldn't have a roomate now. Never. I value my privacy too much.
