When I am down I turn to my friends. I literally can't internalise, I resolve my feelings by expressing them.
Clinical depression is very different from feeling down, upset, hopeless or a general malaise. It is an illness which changes brain chemistry. It's unrealistic to expect someone to listen to suggestions, act on them and get well as a result. As with any illness, there's much that can be done to help yourself. Usually, external help in the form of medication and/or counselling is needed to do get to that point.
