I'm not a practicing catholic but I did get my kids baptized when they were little babies. Krystal was 3 months and Kassandra was 1 month. I don't know why i'm waiting so long to get Erika done, maybe laziness but I do have to get her done very soon.
The reason I get them done is because I wanted them (and want erika) to go to Catholic school. It's not the religion too much that I care about, it's the fact they they do learn about God there and the catholic schools are much stricter then the public ones are. I've had Kassandra in both (she went to public school for 1/2 year last year) and she hated it as did i. The quality of teachers is so much better.
There they're do their first communions, confessions and confirmations. Kassandra will be doing her confirmation next year. I leave the high school decision up to them. They can choose if they want to continue in catholic or go to public. kassandra's choosing to go to catholic high school whci I am very happy about. Their moral standards are a lot higher then the public high schools are so that's awesome!
I've never pushed religion on my kids regardless of them having to go to catholic school. They're free to believe what they want to believe and take what they want and leave what they want. The most important thing for me is that at least they are learning about God.
Erika will follow. She will go to catholic school. Man! I have to get off my behind and get that child baptized!
