I think a cat is easier also to have as a pet.

We have a dog. He's 1/2 chihuaha and 1/2 yorky. He's such a suck but he's a cutie.

Once this dog goes, I'll have no more pets in the house. We've had many dogs, cats, birds and a hamster (that died in our air ducts - stinky!) I've had my fill of pets in my lifetime.
