The general rule of thumb is that if you don't recognize the sender to your e-mail address then simply delete it. Otherwise you leave yourself open to fraud, virus', and added spam from anonymous sources.
Also, hitting the unsuscribe button actually is a trick some sites use to confirming the address. You're e-mail address is then shared with all of their partners and you end up getting more spam in your inbox.
