As SH pointed out....it's really important for people to make these decisions early and make them together as a family.
We (parents, brother and my oldest son) discussed who is going to be buried where, what type of funeral, who is taking charge as 'Executer of the Will' for each person involved and how we individually feel about being atificially sustained due to an accident or illness. We put it all on paper...so when the time comes we have to deal with it....emotion won't get in the way of following out a person's wishes.
People assume if something happens to them...either a spouse or direct family member takes the assets. As Heather knows....it's much more complicated than that. What if several people in a family were all in one car accident?
It's sounds like a gloomy thing to discuss.....but it's less gloomier to discuss it while everyone is still around...than leave your kids to muddle through it later.
