While I cannot speak for all men, I am a member of the Big Wuss Club of Fathers with Daughters (BWCFD). In fact, without my daughter, I'm convinced I wouldn't be married today, quite content to maintain whatever joint custody settlement may be available for me and my sons.
I wonder, though, how'd I'd cope with the situation you're in, Duke. My guess is that I'd try to find some diversions; someone to occupy my thoughts that wouldn't replace the place in my heart for my daughter, but who would fill the emptiness. I'm certain this is where you've gone, and that you will eventually succeed.
