I fully agree with you on the one person preaching their views and calling down other members. It is also a concern of mine in the Religion forum but I'm more concerned with giving people what they want and a bigger reason to come here. If a political forum will do that then all the much better.
The guidelines will be extemely strict in both forums. People become angry and don't always consider their posts before they hit the submit. Likewise for others who are a bit sensitive and tend to misread posts. Either way, I'm not picking sides.
This site will always adhere to the 3 strike your out system. I will not bend on it at all. I've seen websites play it soft around it's members and thats fine, but I'm building a site where I want a 6 year old to feel comfortable posting so crap will be filtered out the heavy handed way.
By creating these topics/categories, I feel I'm catering to the general public while pleasing my members. If removing one person will make a community happy then I won't bat an eyelash. I'm not an idiot and I have a specific goal for this and my other sites. Individuals pushing those limits will be warned, short ban with warning, perma ban. Trying to get in after a perma ban will see a report to your ISP and you'll be part of a banned user list that I will eventually (with the help of many other sites) publish on the net and will be available to all websites and game servers.
I know the above may sound harsh and it's not meant to. It's meant to give you all a sense of security about this site. I won't allow it to be compromised by a few tards when it can benefit so many. I don't look forward at all to kicking and banning but know it always happens. I've spent a fair amount of time policing other forums and game servers and have seen my share of smacktards. These people are in it for the trouble and only care about themselves. They are not welcome here and will be dealt with swiftly.
Sorry for the rant guys and gals.
I really am a teddy bear with a good heart, just don't like to see good people suffer. I'll do whatever I can to ensure that doesn't happen.
