July 3 is not only the birthday of a good friend of mine, it's also the day that Lifesupporters.com celebrates creation as well. It's hard to believe that Lifesupporters actually turned 3 today given there were many times over the past few years where I wondered if we would actually still be online. Even though 3 years is not a long time, it still seems like an age given our history. The nice thing is that we've managed to actually help some people in our time online which is what I wanted of this place since day one however, that doesn't change how good it feels when someone actually feels better due to something that happened here.

Others just come here to vent if they've had a bad day or share parts of themselves that they don't feel comfortable sharing one on one with people in their lives. I know this alone has been the vehicle for my facing of inner demons so it's nice to see others embrace this method of self help. Then there is the fact that I've met a number of truly great people via Lifesupporters Forums. I've said it before and I'll say it again, we have the best members you'll find anywhere and they are the soul of this site, without them Lifesupporters would be just another emotionless interpersonal website. These fine folks manage to not only keep the forum atmosphere fun and light but they also embrace new members very well and make them feel as if their part of the family better than I could ever do with welcome messages. While it's true that we don't moderate our forums as stringently as other websites do, there is good reason for this. Some of the topics we deal with can be quite heavy in nature and as such, tend to cast a negative energy that easily spills out beyond the confines of a forum thread. Once you have a number of forum threads that are all dark in nature with no positive counterbalance, the overall mood of the forums begins to shift. If this is allowed to go on for too long, eventually your left with a place to post your thoughts once or twice, never to return again. The whole idea of Lifesupporters.com is not only to provide everyone with a sympathetic ear to your troubles but also to provide you with a home and interactive family should you feel the lack of one in your daily lives. Who wants to return to stormy seas when you can sit on the beach and relax to the sound of gentle waves?
For those members and guests who choose to return to our site, you have my sincere gratitude. If you are a constant visitor, or simply a lurker on our news page or forum, why not register and give membership here a try? I'm willing to bet that once you've posted a few things in our forums, you'll see all of what I've mentioned above and more. Thank you for being a Life Supporter! Sincerely, Ken (aka Duke) Lifesupporters.com Network Founder. |
