Page 1 of 2 I always thought that the maternal instinct and carrying a child around inside your body for 9 months meant that mothers always naturally, instinctively, automatically loved the child. As a father, I had mixed feelings about out little "bundle of joy" off the bat because it wasn't a planned pregnancy, I wasn't a "kid person" and I was extremely unhappy in my relationship. What never occurred to me was that a woman can feel the same way, that is until now.
In an article on MSN Lifestyle , Marion Bilich, PhD tackles this important topic. Quoted from the article, "I feel like a horrible person. I just gave birth to my first child three months ago -- a baby girl -- and I really don't like her. She's cranky, fussy, and difficult. I know that things might improve as she grows up, but how do I deal with these feelings? Aren't mothers supposed to naturally adore their children? What's wrong with me?" It's an interesting article for any new and/or expectant mother to read, hell, it won't hurt dad to give it the once over either.
